Plum Creek Revives the Great American Neighborhood

The Great American is making a comeback in Central Texas. And Plum Creek in Kyle is leading this revival as an affordable alternative to the average suburban development.

The idea behind the traditional neighborhood development (TND) is not a new one. Before World War II, neighborhoods, towns and cities throughout the country were built to comfortably accommodate community interaction among citizens. Plum Creek follows some of the same premises found in these older neighborhoods.

Homes are placed close to narrower tree-lined streets with sidewalks to encourage pedestrian activity. Also the simple addition of front porches increases the chances for neighbors to interact with each other. Communal areas, parks, retail shops and outdoor recreation further the idea of community involvement.

To complete the traditional neighborhood picture, Plum Creek features the classic architectural style of the 1940's and 1950's with large front porches, white picket fences and alleys that hide garages. Even the color schemes found on the houses are reminiscent of bygone era.

Yet Plum Creek is also designed for the way people live today with an 18-hole public golf course, a 30-acre stocked fishing lake, a community pool and a large community park with a playscape. There is even a 16,000 square foot onsite child development.

Also all homes are wired for the future, enabling homeowners to enjoy high speed internet, voice data and cable television at their fingertips. Features such as these have contributed to this community's incredible growth and success.

Because Plum Creek strives to be more small town than subdivision, a broad range of both residential and commercial offerings are available to residents. Currently the Central Texas Medical Center has opened a 8,100 square foot medical facility in Plum Creek Square. This not only adds value to the community, but also adds to its distinctiveness.

Homebuyers can purchase a single-family home or an attached town home. Pulte Homes, Milburn Homes, and Legacy Homes lend their innovative designs to create Plum Creek's varied streetscape.

By providing both commercial and residential components, Plum Creek continues to attract discriminating buyers who desire to be part of a dynamic community that offers more than just great homes to its residents. That's why so many Central Texans are choosing to call Plum Creek home.

Note: Plum Creek is a 2,200 acre master-planned community located between the towns of Kyle and Buda just south of Austin, Texas. Plans call for a mixed-use development including homes, parks, schools, community center, commercial and office projects.
